V.T.V DAMODARAN

V.T.V. Damodaran, a Socio-Cultural and Humanitarian Activist, hailing from Payyanur, Kerala, popularly, but dearly known as VTV amongst his circles is a graduate in Arts with additional qualifications in Management and English Journalism. He has been living in Abu Dhabi, U.A.E. more than two decades and working as a Senior Consultant in one of the leading Chartered Accountant firms in Abu Dhabi.

Writer - VTV is well known for his personal, professional, social and ethical commitments besides his poetic creativity which has been appreciated many a times by the public as well as the UAE government organizations.

Social Activist : Under the initiative and leadership of VTV, many humanitarian services has been undertaken in India including construction of house for poor and downtrodden, medical assistance to poor and needy people. He is one of the backbones of an Institution in Kerala for mentally and physically challenged children.

A Gandhiyan : VTV is an ardent follower of Mahatma Gandhi. He founded an organization called Gandhi Sahithya Vedi in Abu Dhabi to promote the teachings of Gandhiji among the younger generation. VTVs long cherished dream was realized on 1 February 2018 by erecting the statue of Mahatma Gandhi at the India Social & Cultural Center (ISC) for which he had to undergo many hurdles. The statue was unveiled by H.E.,the Indian Ambassador to the UAE at the entrance of ISC which was applauded by the entire Indian diaspora and the media for his relentless efforts and commitment.

VTV brought a "Charkha" (Spinning Wheel), one of the symbols of the Indian independence movement, from his home town, Payyanur, and installed at the Indian Embassy by H.E. The Ambassador of India on 26 January 2019. Earlier H.H. Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of the United Arab Emirates spinned the Charka.

Lover of Folklore : VTV is a lover of Folk Arts. He learnt Kolkkali at the age of six under his father, K.U. Rama Poduval, one of the exponents of Payyanur Kolkkali

It was for the first time, Payyanur Kolkkali, a 400 year old folk art of North Kerala was brought outside India and performed at various parts of the gulf under his initiative and training. This was appreciated by all and VTV is the first non resident Indian, recipient of the prestigious award by the Folklore Academy of the Govt. of Kerala. In order to protect this precious art form, he also produced a documentary viz., Kelipperuma.

Family : VTV is the son of K.U. Rama Poduval and Smt. Narayani Amma He is married to Nirmala, a house wife and have two children, Aiswarya, married to Ranjith Poduval and Vaisakh, a Civil Engineer.

A social worker with a passion for championing the cause of his less-privileged countrymen, he is a well-known figure in local circles and has received several awards and commendations in this connection.
